Couples Therapy

I believe that forming and maintaining meaningful and emotionally connected relationships is a central aspect of the human experience. We are wired to attach to and love each other, and we experience significant emotional pain and distress when our relationships are ruptured or strained. Many relationship difficulties arise from childhood wounds, traumas, or patterns of self-protection. I help couples work through these difficulties using Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples

I am a certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist by the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples identifies painful patterns of interactions, investigates the underlying emotional responses which fuel these interactions, and develops new and more secure relationship bonds. This approach has been found to be very helpful in a number of well-designed treatment studies. It is effective for issues impacting relationships including frequent arguments, disconnection, infidelity, emotional emptiness, and sexual difficulties. I find that Emotionally Focused Therapy is particularly useful for individuals who have a history of trauma in childhood or adulthood.
